The CHEMEX is invented back in 1941 by the eccentric chemistry scientist dr. Peter Schlombom. During his carreer he patents over 300 inventions – from cocktail shakers to automobiles. His passion is making everyday objects more effective, good-looking and fun.
While designing the Chemex, Shlombom wanted not only to make his inventions as simple as possible, but also easy on the eye. As a chemistry scientists, he has a deep understanding about the chemistry behind aroma and caffeine extraction from coffee beans.
THis is what drives him to invent the double jointed Chemex filters for perfectly extracted coffee every time.
